Patches are embroidered and have a merrowed border, so will have slightly raised feel. These are sew on only, but if you're like me and have absolutely zero sewing skills then there are plenty of decent fabric glues that can be used. You may find the back of your patch has a small amount of glue on, this is normal and has been used to keep the end of the border threads together.
